Advice from National Highways.
Firms marked Ad pay to be shown first: Featured, then Priority, then Boosted. Sorted by nearest, that only applies within 15 miles of where you searched – beyond 15 miles the nearest firm always comes first, whoever it is. With no place searched, paying firms in the same group take turns at the top in a fresh order each visit.
After the paid groups come firms whose insurance certificate we have checked, then everyone else. Sorting A–Z or Newest ignores payment.
Ratings and review counts are from Google, taken when the listing was added. Paying never changes them.
Tap Near me, or type your postcode or town, then choose Need a tow. Firms are listed nearest first and 24/7 firms are marked. Stuck right now? Use Get help to send one free request to providers near you.

National Highways’ advice: go left into the left lane and pull into an emergency area, lay-by or hard shoulder if you can; get safe by leaving the vehicle on the side away from traffic if it is safe; get help by calling National Highways on 0300 123 5000 and a breakdown recovery service. If it is not safe to get out, stay in with your seatbelt on and call 999.
