Measured from 952 incidents recorded on the M25 since February 2026, the riskiest window is 15:00–18:00, when 25% of incidents start. The quietest is 01:00–04:00. Incidents on the M25 typically clear in about 48 minutes.
The Dart Charge for a car is £3.50 per crossing, or £2.80 with a pre-pay account, charged 6am–10pm every day. Crossings between 10pm and 6am are free, and motorcycles are free at all times. Pay at gov.uk by midnight the day after crossing — an unpaid crossing brings a £70 penalty, reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days.
Officially no — the crossing is the A282, linking M25 junction 31 in Essex with junction 1A in Kent. The QE2 Bridge carries clockwise traffic southbound over the Thames and the twin tunnels carry anticlockwise traffic northbound, completing the orbital route.
